2012 Olympics Video: Vitaliy Fridzon Leads Russia Past Brazil with Clutch 3-Pointer

| by Alex Groberman

Some thought that maybe the Russian Olympic basketball team might be better than expected in these London Games, but not even their biggest supporters counted on them being as good as they have been thus far.

On Thursday, despite blowing an 11-point lead, Russia dug deep and found a way to hold off Brazil thanks to a clutch 3-pointer from Vitaliy Fridzon.

Check out the game’s thrilling conclusion below (via Not Bill Walton):

Andrei Kirilenko finished with 19 points and Timofey Mozgov chipped in 18. Leandro Barbosa led the way for Brazil with 16 points, and Nene chipped in eight points and 10 boards.

Next up for Russia: a match-up versus Spain on Saturday.
