2012 Olympics Results: Team USA Barely Beats Lithuania (Game Recap)

U.S.A. 99 vs LITHUANIA 94

Well, weren't they hit with the big ol' reality stick or what? After giving Nigeria a shellacking last Thursday, Team U.S.A. barely got away from a very game Lithuanian team.

Team U.S.A. led by as many as 12 points in the game but this team Lithuanian bunch by Linas Kleiza seemed to make nearly every big basket. While the Lithuanian team did turn the ball over 23 times, they shot the ball at a near-60 percent clip.

They led the Americans, 84-82, with almost six minutes left before a huge Chris Paul three-pointer gave the lead to Team U.S.A. for good. And LeBron James showed why he was the undisputed best player by scoring nine points in the decisive 12-4 run at the end of the game. Lithuania had absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

So after praising Team U.S.A. with their 83-point smashing of Nigeria, I suppose everyone has pretty much given this team crap and turned their backs on them because they almost lost to Lithuania on a 5-point nail-biter. I'll just say this: I just want them to win the gold. It doesn't matter how it's done.

Kleiza led all scorers with 25 points while LeBron and Carmelo Anthony led Team U.S.A. with 20 points each.
