2012 NBA Western Conference Finals Recap: Spurs vs. Thunder Game 1

| by The No Look Pass

#2 OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER 98 @ #1 SAN ANTONIO SPURS 101
WEST Finals * Game 1 * Spurs lead series, 1-0

It was so evenly matched for nearly three quarters. One team was waiting for the other to blink. Kinda like that Kate Upton staring contest.

But a couple of notes here was Manu Ginobili was finally playing well for the Spurs. And Derek Fisher for the Thunder made his first six shots.

The Spurs blinked first. The Thunder went on a 10-3 run to end the third quarter. A struggling James Harden made five of those points and we thought that Harden was finally going to catch on fire. OKC led, 71-62, after 3.

Then it was pretty much downhill from here for the Thunder. The Spurs went on an 18-3 run filled with Gary Neal jumpers and Tony Parker getting into the paint at will. Finally, San Antonio finished with a beautiful fake by Ginobili that led to his lay-up. That put the Spurs up, 96-89, with 1:10 left and that was all she wrote for the Thunder.

Oklahoma City somehow couldn't generate any offense in the fourth quarter. James Harden (19 points, 7/17 shooting) and Russell Westbrook (17 points, 7/21 shooting) didn't have the greatest games. The Thunder were outrebounded, 50-43. And the Spurs dominated inside, (50 points in the paint by San Antonio; OKC had 26).

Manu Ginobili had his way with the Thunder as he scored 26 points. Kevin Durant led all scorers with 27 points. Fisher missed his last two shots to finish 6/8 and 13 points (in case, the Laker fan contingent wanted to check!).

Going back to the regular season, the Spurs have now won 19 straight. It's like they're rocking PlayStation 3 while the rest of the teams are rocking Atari.
