A Daytona 500 race that had already been hampered by poor weather conditions and scary collisions took a turn for the really terrifying with 40 laps to go when Juan Pablo Montoya crashed into a jet dryer.
Just a few moments after Montoya was overheard on the radio talking about a suspicious vibration, the No. 42 car was seen visibly losing control and eventually crashing into a truck holding 200 gallons of jet kerosene. Spectators initially feared the worst, but despite the dramatic fireballs and explosions, the only real damage sustained came to the car and truck involved.
