A woman in Amherst, Mass., called the police on Sunday because her neighbor claimed her excitement over the World Cup was interfering with his NASCAR viewing.
According to the police report, the NASCAR neighbor accused the female soccer fan of being noisy and interfering with his efforts to watch the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing and listen to some Lynyrd Skynyrd songs.
The man also accused the soccer fan, who is from South America, of taking jobs away from Americans, noted MassLive.com.
There were no direct threats made by the NASCAR fan, but the soccer fan said she wanted to document the NASCAR fan's behavior.
In March, a woman in Johnson City, Tenn., allegedly stabbed her husband because he was watching too much NASCAR, reported NBCSports.com.
Stephanie Hamman reportedly told police that after smoking too much marijuana, she became very angry that her husband was “worshipping the NASCAR race at Bristol.”
Hamman told police that she drove her car into the front door of a local church and laid down on the church altar until her husband arrived.
She then allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a large kitchen knife and stated, “The devil is in me.”
While her husband survived the attack and is presumably still watching NASCAR, Hamman was charged with attempted murder and jailed.
