Video: San Diego Padres Announcer Acknowledges Nice Catch by Ball Girl with a “Hubba Hubba”

| by Alex Groberman

This hasn’t been a great week for baseball announcers.

First there was that strange incident down in Texas, when Dave Barnett randomly started speaking in gibberish during the eighth inning of a Rangers game. Then, on Wednesday night, a San Diego Padres announcer decided to follow that up with a somewhat questionable response to a ball girl making a particularly impressive catch.

What’d he say?

Via Larry Brown Sports:

Yup, that was a “Hubba hubba” you heard there.

Whereas Barnett’s strange rant may have been caused by a legitimate medical emergency, Padres Guy simply appeared to be suffering from a case of the lames.
