Torii Hunter is a Little Salty About Josh Hamilton’s New Angels Deal

| by Alex Groberman

The Angels signing Josh Hamilton caught a lot of people off guard, but nobody expressed their surprise about it quite as straightforwardly as Torri Hunter.

A few weeks ago, reports surfaced that Hamilton was looking for a new deal in the seven-year, $175 million range. That was seen as something of a lofty goal and, ultimately, as expected, he ended up accepting less from the Angels. Two years and $50 million less, to be exact. Still a five-year, $125 million deal for a 31-year-old with some very notable off-the-field issues is pretty impressive.

Impressive enough for some former Angels players, guys who left the squad because they didn’t get the sort of money they were hoping for, to sound off about it.

I was told money was tight but I guess the Arte had money hidden under a Mattress. Business is business but don't lie.

Torii Hunter signed a two-year, $26 million contract with the Detroit Tigers after the 2012 season. The Angels could have retained him, but they opted not to.

Obviously he’s still a little salty about that.

Just keeping it real!!
