Gatorade Releases Awesome Farewell Ad To Derek Jeter (Video)

Gatorade released their farewell ad to Derek Jeter today, and it’s just as good, if not better, than the slick tribute ad Nike paid to Jeter earlier this year.

The ad features Jeter walking down crowded Bronx streets and making impromptu appearances at bars, buildings, and baseball fields around the city. According to Gatorade, the idea for the ad came from Jeter himself.

Molly Carter, Gatorade’s senior director of consumer engagement, tells Adweek that the interactions between Jeter and his Bronx admirers are genuine and unscripted.

From Adweek:

Gatorade, the official sports drink of Major League Baseball since 1990, roped off a few blocks before a home game in the Bronx this July and "just kind of let Jeter go," said Carter. The shock and surprise on fans' faces when their idol walks into Stan's Sports Bar, or autographs baseballs, is genuine, she said.

As the face of baseball for the last 15 years, Jeter deserves every bit of the love and respect he’s being shown on his farewell tour.
