The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office announced on Friday that they had identified 39-year-old Shannon Stone of Brontwood as the victim of a tragic fall at Thursday’s Texas Rangers game.

Stone fell approximately 20 feet onto concrete during the second inning of a Rangers-Oakland Athletics showdown. The incident occurred after the fan -- who was at the game with his 6-year-old son -- lost his footing attempting to catch a ball tossed to him by Josh Hamilton.

"We had a very tragic accident tonight and one of our fans lost their life reaching over the rail trying to get a ball," team President Nolan Ryan said. "As an organization, and as our team members and our staff, we're very heavy-hearted about this, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.”
