I was feeling very opinionated today and thought that I might get some things off my chest.
Is that that a problem?
First of all, all this Yasiel Puig talk made me wonder why Puig is in the final All Star Vote and not his teammate Hanley Ramirez? Take a look at their stats side by side:
Popular VideoThis judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:
Puig: 34 games, 135 AB, .407 BAA, 8 HR, 19 RBI, 5 SB, 3 CS
Ramirez: 34 games, 109 AB, .404, 7 HR, 21 RBI, 4 SB, 0 CS
Am I missing something? Ramirez has just one less HR and 2 more RBI in 26 less AB. Along with a better OBP, SLG, and hasn’t been caught stealing yet. See, I don’t have as much of a problem with the lack of games played as most people, but it’s pretty clear that Puig might not even the most deserving of an All Star selection on his own team. Bottom line is: #votefreddie.
Now, let me just say that I really hope the Pirates make some solid moves before the trade deadline. The good news is, just about any position would be helpful for the Pirates. They could use an innings eater in the rotation to try and help out the bullpen, say Matt Garze? Or a “fresher” reliever, since everyone in their bullpen is being worked to death. Last but not least, any sort of offensive player to add to weak lineup, Michael Cuddyer would be perfect, but that is wishful thinking. Bottom line is: I just really want to see the Pirates stay in the hunt this year.
I am extremely curious as to what the San Fransicso Giants are going to do before the trade deadline. I know it’s hard to be a “seller“ when you play in such a weak division, but this staff is obviously not what it used to be and it was really their only strength. They need to sell.
Lastly, who would I take to start a team between Trout, Machado, and Harper? I would take them in that exact order and I have yet to hear a good argument otherwise.
