Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints Agree on New $100M Deal
You kind of had to figure this would happen.
Drew Brees is 32 years old, but still playing the QB position as well as anyone in the league. For god’s sake he broke Dan Marino’s single-season passing mark and even eclipsed his own NFL record for completion percentage in a season.
So, you had to know that the Saints would get him signed to a long-term contract. And, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, they have.
“@DrewBrees, #Saints reach agreement on 5 yr, $100-mill deal, including $40 mill in year 1; $60 mill guaranteed in 1st 3 yr. More on #ESPN,” he tweets.
Wow, $40 million in the first year. That alone will take care of his family probably forever.
The Saints now hold his rights through his age 36 season. Unless he falls off a cliff or gets injured (or both, you can get hurt bad falling off a cliff), he’ll be with the Saints for a long time.
