Will Jake Shields Get Another Fight vs. Yushin Okami?

| by

Cesar Gracie believes Jake Shields made a smart move by deciding to bump up to middleweight recently. Shields scored his first UFC win at 185 pounds by defeating Ed Herman.

"He had some really hard weight cuts (at welterweight)," said Gracie, during a recent interview with Sherdog's "Beatdown" radio show. "His last fight, I could see Ed Herman was a bigger guy than him. It takes a while to make the UFC your home. I think he's settling in and I think pretty soon we're going to have the Jake Shields we've seen in so many memorable contests."

Gracie also believes the UFC is looking to place Shields in a rematch. Back in 2006, Shields defeated Yushin Okami. Now, with both fighters coming off recent victories, a potential second encounter seems on the horizon.

"Jake has already fought Okami. Jake beat Okami," Gracie said. "Hopefully, they're going to give him somebody else. But like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if they did want that match up."

Shields entered the UFC in 2010 and defeated Martin Kampmann. Since that time, he has gone 2-2, including a loss to UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. He is 28-6-1 in his career.
