With Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal sidelined due to both an injury and a likely suspension for testing positive for performance enhancers, Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante will await his future in Strikeforce for the time being. Cavalcante was slated to meet Lawal for the right to call the winner the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.
"I'll probably fight in April. I was training to fight 'King Mo' for the title, but it was cancelled and I decided to back off," said Cavalcante, in a recent interview with Tatame.com. "I want to fight more, that's all. If they give me three fights a year, I'm good to go."
"Feijao" last was in action in 2011, knocking out Yoel Romero in his first bout since dropping the Strikeforce 205 pound title to Dan Henderson. He is 11-3 in his career.
