UFC On Fuel TV: T.J. Dillashaw vs. Walel Watson Round-by-Round Breakdown

Round 1: Dillashaw with a leaping Superman punch into the single leg. Watson defending well, but Dillashaw switches to the high single and briefly gets him down with the trip. Watson pops up, but Dillashaw gets him down with a double. Watson to his feet again, but Dillashaw puts him down just as fast. Dillashaw in full guard, Watson stifling his attack with a long-limbed, active attack. Watson slips up as he stands and Dillashaw takes his back with both hooks in.

Dillashaw flattens him out and slaps on the rear naked choke. Watson is defending well, but there are just under three minutes left in the round. Dillashaw gets in a short elbow as Watson recovers half guard. Watson scrambling, but Dillashaw takes his back again and drags him down with the rear naked choke on. Watson again defending well, but Dillashaw ends up in full mount, constantly offensive. Watson rolling, but Dillashaw is all over him, threatening with the choke constantly. A minute left. Watson is staying patient, but he is consistently on the defensive. Dillashaw pounding away as the round closes, putting some damage on Watson before the bell.

Round 2: Dillashaw cracks Watson with a right hand right off the bat. Dillashaw closes the distance well, dumps Watson with a single and goes to work from the top. Watson threatening with spidery legs, but Dillashaw in full control on top, passing to side control. Watson defending and scrambling well, but Dillashaw remains one step ahead of him at every turn.

Dillashaw all over Watson, pounding away at Watson in place of going for the sub. Watson rolling back and forth, but Dillashaw continually remains in mount. Dillashaw going for the rear naked again, but Watson guts it out again, only to get hammered with lefts and rights. Watson trying to fight from his back, but Dillashaw isn't having it. Again, Dillashaw goes for the choke. Dillashaw pounding on Watson as the round closes, Watson doing just enough to hang on.

Round 3: Watson comes out wild, looking for a flying knee, but Dillashaw sees it coming and stays clear. Dillashaw closes the distance with two straight shots down the pipe. Watson misses on a spinning back kick. Dillashaw goes in for the takedown, Watson tries for the guillotine, but Dillashaw uses it to take him down. Dillashaw holds top position for a bit before Watson fights to his feet. Watson lands a short knee. Dillashaw moves in behind a nice punch combination to get his hands on Watson, but Watson slaps on a flying triangle and pulls Dillashaw down.

Watson starts throwing strikes instead of working the sub and Dillashaw fights free. Watson goes for what looks like a calf-slicer set up but Dillashaw rolls out and is now working from guard. Watson rolls to his knees, but Dillashaw gets his back and slaps on the choke again. Dillashaw can't adjust the grip though, and Watson continually defends it. Dillashaw postures and throws down punches as the round closes; Watson returns fire from his back.
