UFC on FUEL TV 4 Round-by-Round Review: Raphael Assuncao vs. Issei Tamura

We kick off action in the bantamweight division, as Raphael Assuncao (16-4) collides with Issei Tamura (7-2). The referee in charge will be Jason McCoy.

Round 1: Assuncao and Tamura square right off and Assuncao lands a stiff kick to the lead leg. Tamura seems hesitant right now, but fires off a quick right that connects. Tamura looking to counter and knock Assuncao out, as Assuncao throws a head-kick that just misses. Assuncao fires in and Tamura ducks and lands a glancing blow. Inside leg kick lands by Assuncao, as does an outside kick and another.

Assuncao continues to work the leg, missing on a Superman punch attempt and failing to get a takedown on Tamura. Assuncao with a nice counter right to the body, followed by a spinning front-kick that sends Tamura flying back. Tamura shoots, but Assuncao grabs a choke and takes the back of Tamura for a brief second before Assuncao decides to land some knees to the body. Tamura gets out and the fighters stand back up.

Round 2: Assuncao goes right back to kicking Tamura's lead leg out, as Tamura still not checking. Tamura comes flying in, but Assuncao lands a big strike and follows up as Tamura's unable to defend himself. Assuncao continues to pound away and the referee steps in, calling a stop to the action. Assuncao landed almost 20 uncontested punches.
