UFC on FUEL TV 2 Round-by-Round Review: Jason Young vs. Eric Wisely

And we're off. Today's first bout takes place in the featherweight division.

Round 1: They start out feinting, before trading a few kicks; Wisely lands a solid one to the body. Wisey slips in nicely with a left hand. Young hanging in the pocket and looking to counter, he scores with a hard left hook. Wisely throws a spinning back kick to close to Young, allowing his opponent to grab hold of him and go for the suplex. Wisely defends well and manages to hop to his feet. Young keeps hold of him and walks him to the cage, landing some knees to the hamstrings before they're separated. Young displaying some nice timing, landing some crisp single shots. Young forces Wisely off balance after a failed kick attempt and winds up in guard. Young backs out without much done and Wisely gets to his feet. Young again knocks Wisely off balance, getting in some solid elbows before standing up.

Round 2: Wisely starts off with a solid right leg kick. Young catches another leg kick attempt and bulls Wisely to the fence, sweeping his other leg to score a forceful takedown. Wisely active with strikes from guard, prompting Young to back out of guard and kick his legs. Young drops back in guard with a hammering right hand. Wisely stifling most of Young's work with solid defense, but not threatening with much more than short elbows. Young slipping in some effective close-range ground and pound. After Young backs out of guard again, the ref stands Wisely up. Young hits Wisely with a well-timed cut kick to knock him off balance and goes back to work from guard as the round closes.

Round 3: Wisely starts the round with a hard front kick to the face. Young takes it well, but Wisely is on him like a dog. Wisely threatens to take Young his back as he drags him to the mat, but Young defends and they end up on the cage. Wisely is on the attack, scoring nicely on the feet with a dynamic attack. Young slams Wisely to the mat at the halfway mark as he throws a kick. The action stalls. The crowd picks up its intensity and Young postures, landing three hard right hands. Young backs out of guard and tries getting in with a few big rights, but Wisely defends well. The ref stands them up. Forty seconds to go. Wisely with a cracking left straight from the one-two. Wisely falls to the mat as he throws a head kick with fifteen seconds left, allowing Young to take top position.
