Madeleine Herman filmed her husband UFC fighter Dave "Pee Wee" Herman being tased by police officers at a gas station in Indiana early Tuesday morning.
Madeleine says in her video (below) that she and her husband were experiencing mechanical problems with their car at night, so Dave put on his hazard lights while driving on Interstate 69. She adds that they were followed by a police car for about three miles until Dave found a lit area to pull over.
Madeleine states that Dave got out of the car to speak to the officers and the video cuts to the incident.
The officers yell at Dave to get on his knees and to put his hands on his head. Dave repeatedly asks the officers, who are uniform, for their IDs.
Madeleine claims that the officers were required to show three forms of ID, but the cops replied by deploying a Taser on her husband, noted the New York Post.
MMA Weekly reports that the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department claims that Dave was speeding without head lights or tail lights and led police on a 3-mile chase. The police report also says that Herman “approached officers in an aggressive manner.”
Herman has been charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, battery against law enforcement, neglect of a dependent and resisting law enforcement.
According to the police report posted by MMA Weekly, Deputy Jarrid Treesh of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department makes no mention of Dave requesting the officers IDs or that they refused to do so.
Amnesty International reported in 2012 that 500 Americans had been killed by Tasers deployed by U.S. police, however, the Taser is marketed as a non-lethal weapon.
