UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson Preliminary Card Results and Recap

The UFC planned an amazing end-of-year series of events. Between Anderson Silva’s rematch with Chris Weidman, Junior dos Santos’ third fight against Cain Velasquez and Georges St. Pierre’s highly anticipated match-up versus Johny Hendricks, fans have a lot to look forward to over the next few months. Unfortunately, before we can get to any of those PPVs, we have to endure UFC 165.

The problem with UFC 165 is that it features a main event and co-main event that extremely predictable. Renan Barao is every bit as good as Dominick Cruz was in his prime. Jon Jones is better than Alexander Gustafsson in everything except being Swedish. Whereas all of the main events in the forthcoming UFC events are going to be competitive, the same can’t be said for the fights at the top of UFC 165’s card.
