Jon Jones and Anderson Silva are the two best fighters in the world today. Georges St. Pierre probably deserves to be in the discussion as well, but we’ll wait until he takes on Johny Hendricks before making that official.
The main difference between Jones and Silva is that the former doesn’t seem to resent what he does as much as the latter does. Jones would never clown someone the way Silva did Chris Weidman. And because of that, despite the fact that he too is fighting guys that are way below him in class, he is guaranteed victory each time.
On Saturday night, Jones will do to Alexander Gustafsson would he’s done to every opponent thus far – destroy them with his skills. All this nonsense about size and reach is just to sell the PPV. The truth is, everyone who has seen him fight knows that the UFC’s light heavyweight champ is who he is not because of how long his legs are, but because of how he uses him.
It is what it is, though. Check out the full results of UFC 165 below.
