Tyron Woodley Replaces Erick Silva, Will Fight Jay Hieron

| by

Former Strikeforce welterweight contender Tyron Woodley will debut with the UFC at UFC 156: Aldo Vs. Edgar. Woodley has signed with the promotion, replacing an injured Erick Silva.

Woodley (10-1) will be taking on Jay Hieron (23-6) at the February 2 card from Las Vegas. The placement of the Woodley-Hieron bout is currently unknown.

Woodley suffered his first career defeat last year, falling to Nate Marquardt in a bout to determine the new Strikeforce welterweight champion. The title had been vacant since Nick Diaz left for the UFC.

Hieron, meanwhile, returned to the UFC and was defeated by Jake Ellenberger. The veteran is now 0-3 in his Octagon career.
