Photos: 50 Cent Accompanies Floyd Mayweather to Jail, Justin Bieber Does Not

| by Alex Groberman

This past Friday, Floyd Mayweather Jr. began a 90-day jail sentence for attacking his ex-girlfriend while two of their kids watched.

It was a somber day for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, it reminded us that the world’s No. 1 pound-for-pounder is just the latest in a long line of well-renowned fighters who have gone to jail for crimes relating to raising their hands to women. Two, it came less than a week after Paul Williams was paralyzed from the waist down in a motorcycle accident – reminding us that while tragedy robs some of the precious time they have to box, others throw it away on the count of sheer stupidity.

And finally, on a far less consequential note, it reminded us that a showdown between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao would probably never happen.

As is generally the case, we at Opposing Views were mildly uncomfortable with all those serious topics. Because we’re heavy proponents of using humor as a defense mechanism, we sought relief from all of the aforementioned downers by also remembering this weirdly hilarious moment from not too long ago:

That was from Mayweather’s May 5 bout versus Miguel Cotto. We never did get a clear answer as to why Justin Bieber accompanied Floyd to the ring that night, but we assume it had something to do with him joining the Money Team.

This past Friday, when Mayweather submitted himself to authorities, he had 50 Cent with him.

But where was The Biebs?

Was there some sort of Money Team Civil War that we weren’t aware of? Did Ray-J and Biebs get into a confrontation that MediaTakeOut wasn’t on top of? Was Biebs busy avoiding the police because he too has allegedly been getting a little too feisty with those tiny fists of his?

So many questions, so few answers.
