Sonnen's account of the story varies of course, as the former Oregon realtor is sticking to his guns that the whole issue was over improper disclosure. Issues like Sonnen's, Nate Marquardt's and, more recently, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's, have pushed the topic of TRT to the forefront in MMA. Many people are asking questions about how legitimate these fighters cases are for requiring TRT and why it seems like there's a general air of shadiness surrounding the channels they go through to get on it.
An expert in the field, Sonnen was recently asked whether or not TRT is a problem in MMA during an appearance on SpikeTV's MMA Uncensored Live.
"Hold on, there's two things there. First off, if you're gonna associate a guy with TRT, make sure you also associate the fact that it's legal and it's not banned. Second thing with TRT is people are really getting confused, they look at TRT and they're missing the stuff that really is good," Sonnen said. "TRT is eight, nine, 10 on the list of things that a person could take to help their careers go along. Secondly, any time a person says 'performance enhancer,' stop talking to them, because they don't have the intellect to debate with you."

Sonnen is currently, tentatively on deck to face Anderson Silva in a rematch this Summer, though there's been no date or location attached to the event.
