Mike Pyle Sees Himself as a Legit Welterweight Contender Now

| by

After knocking out Josh Neer at the 4:56 mark of the first round at UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall, MMA veteran Mike Pyle granted an interview to Sherdog Radio Network's "Beatdown" show and let listeners know he believes the KO victory has solidified his spot as a top contender in the UFC's ultracompetitive Welterweight division.

"I consider myself as a contender," said the Tennessee native. "I will continue to impress myself, my coaching staff and the UFC and the fans each time that I perform… I have the striking ability. I have knockout power. It's just a matter of meshing with a coach that will bring that out in me and make it a reality."

As the division's long-time champion Georges St. Pierre continues to rehab his knee, and current interim champion, Carlos Condit stays shelved until GSP is back, for now, Pyle will have to take a number and get in line with the others for a shot at the title in the UFC's stagnant Welterweight division.
