Memorial Day Weekend Sports Arrests Update: Arianny Celeste, Nick Fairley

| by Alex Groberman

Giving high-profile sports figures (whether they’re athletes or just somehow connected to sports) too much free time is never a good idea. Because of that, Labor Day Weekend, a glorious three-day celebration where we commemorate BBQs and family gatherings at the park, tends to be troublesome for popular sports personalities.

This year, in a pleasant surprise, only two well-known figures got busted. Of course, it’s only Sunday, so there’s still plenty of time for that number to grow.

First off, on Saturday, infamous UFC ring girl Arianny Celeste got busted for domestic violence. No actual details have emerged regarding why she was arrested as of this point but, either way, Dana White seems to be standing beside his girl. Per Fox Sports:

"Arianny is our baby. She has been with us for over five years. She is a good girl and an amazing ambassador for the UFC. I don't know all the details of what happened, but we have her back and support her 100 percent."

Smart. Because standing behind a recently arrested pretty girl despite the fact that you admittedly don’t know the details of why the arrest occured is never a bad idea.

The other big bust of the weekend comes courtesy of Detroit Lions rabble-rouser, Nick Fairley. This marks the second time he’s been arrested during this offseason. Via ESPN:

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley was arrested for the second time this offseason early Sunday morning and charged with driving under the influence and attempting to elude police, Fox10TV.com reported.

Shockingly, the Lions have not rushed out to announce that they have Fairley’s back.
