Mauricio "Shogun" Rua Makes Some Personnel Changes

| by

On the heels of Ed Soares being let go by UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, former UFC light heavyweight champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua announced through his Twitter page that he has parted with manager/translator Eduardo Alonso.

"I would like to tell that I no longer work with Eduardo Alonso, we still friends, as (usual)," Rua posted.

Alonso has been a key figure in helping Rua work out his contracts with the UFC, as he signed with the organization back in 2007. Rua won the UFC 205-pound title by defeating Lyoto Machida, but was upended in his first title defense by Jon Jones.

"Shogun" has been out of action since dropping a close decision to Dan Henderson late in 2011. The 30-year-old is 1-2 in his last three Octagon appearances.
