Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua is Fine with Not Getting a Title Shot

| by

Maurício Rua (21-6) may have won at UFC on FOX 4, but his performance wasn't enough to earn him the next shot at the light heavyweight championship.

Rua defeated Brandon Vera (12-6-1 No Contest) by TKO in round four with relentless shots to the downed challenger.

"I know Brandon Vera," said Rua. "He's a good fighter and tonight he proved it with his heart."

During the fight, Rua said he became tired and will train harder for the next fight. He noted the shots Vera landed to his face did some damage.

"I fight for the knockout," said Rua.

In the midst of the interview, Rua was informed that his next fight wasn't for the championship and he replied that he had "no problem" with the decision by Dana White.

Rua said he doesn't know who he wants to fight next and in the meantime continues to "train hard for everything."
