Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are Surprisingly Similar

More often than not boxing fans tend to look at fighters as being larger than life and forget that they are human beings just like the rest of us. People are not perfect and everyone has problems, so why should fighters be any different?

Obviously once someone becomes successful and they become a celebrity in the public’s eyes, things start to change for them, it’s inevitable. Their life becomes an open book for the world to see, and they are looked at in a different light than just your average Joe. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather know this all too well.

On the surface when you look at both fighters, it couldn’t be clearer how different they are in terms of personality and they way they carry themselves. Floyd Mayweather tends to wear his heart on his sleeve and pulls no punches whenever he is interviewed by the press.

Generally in most of his interviews, it’s not that hard to get a controversial sound bite or two out of him. Manny Pacquiao on the other hand seems to choose his words more carefully in the press and in front of the camera but like Mayweather, he has had his share of troubles outside of the ring as well. The only difference is: People tend to forgive Pacquiao a lot easier than they would Floyd Mayweather. A lot of this has to do with the way Mayweather carries himself and the bad boy persona that he portrays to the public. It seems as though he intentionally tries to get people to dislike him and actually enjoys playing the bad guy role. Love him or hate him he sells tickets and most people buy because of all of controversy that comes along with it.
