Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch: Will it Happen?

| by

Tim Boetsch snapped Hector Lombard's long unbeaten streak with a victory over him recently. Lombard entered the UFC having never lost the Bellator middleweight championship.

Luke Rockhold, who currently wears the Strikeforce 185-pound title, wouldn't mind being matched up with Boetsch for his next title defense. Rockhold recently downed Tim Kennedy.

"Tim Boetsch looked pretty good last weekend," said Rockhold, in an interview with MMAWeekly.com. "He just beat the Bellator champion, let's see if he can come beat the Strikeforce champion."

Rockhold has also mentioned wanting a future match with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, but it appears issues regarding contracts could keep that from happening. As far as Strikeforce contenders go, former champ Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza looks like the likely No. 1 contender.

"I've already fought (Souza) and it's probablynot the smartest decision to want to fight him again, but at the same time, Jacare, he's the best in the diviion," Rockhold said. "From what I feel, he's the most well-rounded fighter and he's the toughest guy there."

Souza has an upcoming match with Derek Brunson set for August 18 at Strikeforce: Rousey Vs. Kaufman.
