Keith Kizer Talks All Things Alistair Overeem

| by

Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem made remarks recently that would make it seem as if he is headed towards a hearing in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission to re-apply for his fight license. Currently, Overeem is suspended until late in December, but he feels like his constant testing will allow him to gain his license earlier.

Keith Kizer, executive director for the commission, however, told that he knows nothing about this early hearing Overeem seems to be planning on attending.

"Not that I'm aware of. I've talked to people at the UFC, and they have no idea what he's talking about," Kizer said. "The regulation indicates that you can't file an application until that time frame is up. There's nothing for a commission to put on an agenda."

Overeem wants to fight Junior dos Santos for the belt in late December, but his hearing is planned for two days before the UFC has a scheduled show. That would make it very difficult to promote "The Reem" without knowing if he will have his license.
