Junior Witter Beats Colin Lynes to Win British Welterweight Title

Junior Witter won the British welterweight title with a unanimous points win over Colin Lynes on Saturday night at Hillsborough Leisure Centre.

Witter, 38, reclaimed the British belt nearly seven years after last holding the title and four years since surrendering his WBC world  strap to Timothy Bradley.

The Bradford-born fighter (39-5) has been best known for his long-term spat with Ricky Hatton- another fomer world title holder at this weight. In capturing the British title again, Witter may be able to set up a fight with Matthew Hatton- Ricky’s younger sibling who is still reeling after defeat to Kell Brook at in March.

At the top of the bill, Kid Galahad claimed the WBC international super bantamweight title with a one-sided win over Josh Wale. Galahad, who improves to 12-0, dominated throughout before Wale was rescued by doctors at the end of the ninth.

Elsewhere on the card, Chris Eubank Jr extended his unbeaten professional record to 4-0 with a points win over Harry Matthews.
