Two new names have been added to the list of Ultimate Fighter season winners at TUF 14 as John Dodson and Diego Brandao became the first Bantamweight and featherweight to win the title. Eight bantamweights and eight featherweights entered the house all vying for the 2 six figure contracts.
Featherweight Diego Brandao rocked Dennis Bermudez early in the fight and it looked like the Brazilian would have another quick finish. The tough Bermudez would come back to drop Brandao with a short right hand, putting him in serious trouble. As time winded down in the round Bermudez was dropping the ground and pound on Brandao but got sloppy. In the blink of an eye Brandao had grabbed the left arm of Bermudez, swung his legs and rolled into a nasty armbar that had his opponent tapping.
Even with the quick tap and stoppage the arm of Bermudez appeared injured by the submission. With three impressive knockout wins on the show, Brandao pulled a fast on and saved the best finish for last.
The TUF 14 “Mole” John Dodson spent more time talking to Joe Rogan than he did fighting T.J. Dillashaw. The bantamweight dropped Dillashaw with a left behind the ear and right hand to the jaw and there was no recovering. Dillashaw was done after those two punches and the referee had seen enough.
On top of winning the finals and earning the six figure contract, both fighters would also walk away with some bonus money. Dodson would grab and extra 40k for the knockout of the night while Brandao scored 80k for the submission of the night and fight of the night.
