Jake Shields Seems to Like Fighting at Middleweight

| by

Jake Shields (28-6-1) appears content with his decision to fight again as a middleweight.

At UFC 150 Shields defeated Ed Herman (20-8) via unanimous decision.

"I think Herman's a tough, underrated guy," said Shields. "I was happy to beat him, but I didn't finish him."

Prior to Shields' UFC debut he fought in the welterweight and middleweight division for several organizations, including Strikeforce and EliteXC. In Strikeforce he won the middleweight championship and at EliteXC the welterweight championship.

When he joined the UFC in 2010, he fell to 2-2 in the welterweight division and decided to return as a middleweight. He feels in a short time he will be ready for the best the division has to offer.

"Give me four to five months to bulk up and I'll be as strong as these guys," said Shields. "Hopefully I can fight someone who is a top contender and get my name back closer to the mix."

It is not known who Shields will fight next.
