WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Champ Deontay Wilder proved something recently that most of us have suspected for a while: internet trolls are cowards.
Obnoxious troll Charlie Zelenoff has been bothering Wilder for years with offensive messages and phone calls.
"He said he was going to murder me,” Wilder said. “He said he was going to tape my daughter's mouth ... when dealing with my kids, that's below the belt. That's what really got me."
Somehow, Wilder convinced Zelenoff to meet him at the Hollywood Boxing Gym, sign a contract, and square off for a quick fight.
Surprise, surprise – Zelenoff spent almost the entire “fight” either on the ground or running away. If Wilder’s crew hadn’t been there to calm the heavyweight champ down, he probably would have sent Zelenoff to the hospital.
Because he's a troll, Zelenoff still tried to trash talk Wilder after the fight.
“I’m still the best,” he said. “He got lucky.”
After those words, Wilder took two steps towards Zelenoff and sent him running once again. Once a troll, always a troll.
