Freddie Roach Continues to Prioritize Manny Pacquiao over Amir Khan

| by

Freddie Roach has conceded that he is no closer to finding out whether he will be in the corner for Amir Khan’s next fight.

Khan has worked with Roach for the last three years, however the American has seen his charge lose his last two fights as the Bolton born fighter suffered a controversial points loss to Lamont Peterson in Washington last December and then a devastating stoppage at the hands of Danny Garcia in July.

Roach has attracted criticism for attempting to divide his time between Khan and eight-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao whilst continuing to stave off the effects of a long-standing battle with Parkinson’s disease.

However, the former lightweight contender is not about to change his approach:

“I have not heard anything official from them. I heard they want to fight in December. No one has told me if I’m in or out,” Roach told boxingscene.com.

“If Manny fights in December, he takes priority.”

Khan has been touted as a potential project for legendary trainer Manny Steward, although the International Boxing Hall of Fame trainer has an ongoing arrangement with heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko and may be unwilling to change.
