If you were looking to buy tickets for the May 2 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, you had only 60 seconds to do so and if you didn’t, then you are out of luck.
That’s right. The contracts were finally agreed upon by both parties and tickets went on sale on April 23 at 3:00 p.m. ET, but sold out in just a minute, reports TMZ's Anthony Dominic on his Twitter feed.
Darren Rovell of ESPN said 14,000 tickets were released with prices ranging from $1,500 to $10,000 and they are all gone. Maybe not to this degree, but this fight is expected to be the most viewed fight in recent boxing history. The expected revenue from ticket sales was estimated at $74 million and the fight in general is projected to reach close to $400 million.
The MGM Grand in Las Vegas will host what has been dubbed as the fight of the century as Pacquiao (57-5-2) tries to hand Mayweather his first professional defeat (47-0).
For the rest of us who could not get a ticket, either for the timing or the price, we will have to settle with watching it on pay-per-view for $99 — the most expensive pay-per-view event ever.
