Fedor Emelianenko Content with Decision to Retire

| by

Fedor Emelianenko decided to officially announce his retirement after topping Pedro Rizzo in his native country of Russia.

The 35-year-old pushed his current win streak to three by knocking out Rizzo in just over a minute, adding to recent triumphs over Satoshi Ishii and Jeff Monson.

"People have to accept my decision," Fedor said. "They gotta understand it's my decision and I gotta go."

Many believed the end of his career was fast approaching, and Emelianenko himself said that no other strong offers had been made to continue fighting. He finishes his career, if he remains retired, with a mark of 34-4 and one no-contest, including championship reigns in PRIDE, WAMMA and RINGS.
