Eddie Mendez Signs a Deal with the UFC

Unbeaten middleweight prospect Eddie Mendez has signed with the UFC. Complete details were not made known, as Iridium Sports confirmed the signing via Twitter on Thursday.

Everyone give client and friend @EddieMendezMMA a follow! He just signed with the UFC.

Mendez (7-0-1) competed for Strikeforce late last year, defeating Fernando Gonzalez via split decision. It is unknown when Mendez will make his Octagon debut.

"Well it's official everyone," Mendez posted on Twitter. "I signed with the UFC last night! Thank you to everyone for all of the support and love."

Mendez fought to a majority draw with Robert Scott in 2008 and had a no-contest vs. Kenny McCorkell in 2010 due to a scoring error. Three of his wins have come via knockout, with another by submission.
