Dustin Poirier Ready to Make a Statement at UFC on FUEL TV 3

| by

For 23-year-old Dustin Poirier, his UFC on Fuel TV 3 main event bout with "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung is about more than just the fight -- it represents the culmination of all of his hard work and dedication.

"A year ago, I was hoping one day to be in the Ultimate Fighting Championship just fighting under the name. Now I'm headlining a show, man. It's just crazy," says Poirier. "This journey is just like the fruit of my labor; it's everything that I've dreamed about and done the right things towards to make it happen and it's actually happening. I'm living my dreams and I'm chasing my ultimate goal of being a world champion."

12-1 overall and on a five-fight winning streak, Poirier will find himself in talks of title contention should he defeat Jung next week. The young fighter knows that he has his work cut out for him, but relishes the challenge and vows to bring the fight to his opponent.

"Somebody's getting put to sleep. It's gonna be a crazy fight," he says. "I wanna set a record for punches thrown, let's do it. We know he's got some heavy hands. He's gonna bring the best outta me. I'll be able to stay more technical when we're standing and not get into the brawl that he kinda invites with open arms. We know he's got a solid chin, we know he's got a heart, we know he's a warrior, but so am I and that's what makes great fights."

UFC on Fuel TV: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier goes down this coming Tuesday (May 15) at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
