Did Georges St-Pierre Demand $50M to Fight Anderson Silva?

| by

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has shot down a report that he asked the UFC for $50 million to face UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The claim was first made by Mike Straka during an episode of The MMA Beat.

"I have not been informed of this, it is not true," said St-Pierre, during a radio interview with 98.5 FM. "Nobody told me about it and I am in France now. I have not seen the article. I will not comment."

Straka reported that St-Pierre feels he has 10 fights left in his career and can make $8 million per fight. To off-set any potential injury suffered against Silva, he would want at least $50 million to face him in a super-fight.

UFC president Dana White has insisted he can make the match happen, but the hold-up appears to be finding a suitable weight for both men to fight at. Silva's camp wants it closer to 174 pounds, while St-Pierre's wants the bout to take place at 170.
