Demetrious Johnson is Planning to Fight Winner of Jussier Formiga vs. John Dodson

| by

New UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson isn't sleeping with his title belt. Heck, being the flyweight champion means "Mighty Mouse" can barely even wear the belt.

Johnson became the first-ever UFC 125-pound champion when he bested Joseph Benavidez this past weekend at UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort. Johnson was a recent guest on UFC Tonight, where he discussed the impact of becoming a title-holder.

"When I was an amateur, I had a lot of belts," Johnson said. "When I turned pro, I realized I needed a new piece of gold around me. I finally got it. This has been six years in the making. Now I have to keep it nice and shiny."

However, having the belt around his waist is a bit difficult, as Johnson said, "It's pretty heavy. I like wearing it around my shoulder better. I have a small waist and it keeps falling off."

Johnson will likely have his first title defense against the winner of Jussier Formiga-John Dodson. Those two collide next month at UFC On FX: Browne vs. Bigfoot.

"There are a lot of guys (that could be challengers)," Johnson said. "Next up will probably be the winner of Jussier Formiga and John Dodson. I'll be watching that fight very closely."
