Daniel Cormier on Strikeforce Cancellation: "Something Positive Will Come from It"

| by

Daniel Cormier was set to headline the November Strikeforce card against former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir. Now, Cormier will not even be competing in November.

Strikeforce officials confirmed that the planned November 3 card from Oklahoma City has been cancelled on Friday. Mir pulled out of the fight several weeks ago, and no new opponent was ever signed to face Cormier.

"Very sad about not fighting but at the end of the day something positive will come from it," Cormier posted on Twitter. "More time to train. I am with a good company...Things will be ok. Very sad and upset but it'll work out. (UFC, Strikeforce, Showtime Sports) are all top fight organizations. Will be fine."

Cormier won the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix earlier this year, defeating Josh Barnett. "DC" is expected to sign with the UFC, as Zuffa absorbed the Strikeforce heavyweight roster since acquiring the promotion.
