Daniel Cormier Officially Signs UFC Deal

| by

Daniel Cormier has yet to finish out his run in Strikeforce, but that hasn't stopped the former Olympian from inking a new deal with the UFC.

Cormier will face Dion Staring in January at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine. From there, the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner will head to the Octagon.

During a recent appearance on MMAjunkie.com Radio, Cormier confirmed that he has signed a deal with the UFC, but that it is a "shorter contract" than usual.

Cormier (10-0) earned the GP title when he defeated Josh Barnett earlier this year. After Zuffa purchased Strikeforce, they dissolved the heavyweight division outside of the grand prix and started bringing fighters over to the UFC. Cormier remained to finish out the tournament.
