Though he admitted to having a renewed vigor for the fight game (in no small part due to his recent undergoing of testosterone replacement therapy), Quinton "Rampage" Jackson went on a Twitter tirade recently in which he stated his weariness and frustration in dealing with the UFC.
Rampage claimed that he's had enough of the negativity he feels permeates the current organization that he fights for and will only compete in the Octagon once more, seeking a new promoter after that final UFC appearance. Speaking with MMAFighting this week, UFC president Dana White gave his take on the situation, having been in contact with Rampage just prior to his Twitter outburst.
"I think that by the time we got off the phone, I thought that we were in a good place," White said. "I thought that we had worked it out. But you know, by his tweets [Tuesday], you just don't know with him."
White attributes Jackson's acting out to the recent loss he suffered to Ryan Bader at UFC 144 in his former home base of Japan. He maintains that he harbors no ill-will toward Jackson, but admitted that he doesn't know exactly what the fighter's current turn in demeanor will mean in regards to his future with the UFC.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
"I think Rampage takes his losses hard and I think that's what he's going through," said White. "He's not a big fan of criticism, either. I mean that in a serious way. He can't handle criticism. He was pissed off at me because I said I don't think he's taking his career as serious as he has in the past, since the [Rashad] Evans fight. And he was f***ing pissed about that. And he's like, 'What you said about me…' And I said, 'I didn't say you were a f***ing scumbag.' And he said, 'I'd rather you said that than what you did say.' So he takes criticism hard, he takes his losses hard, and he's going through what Rampages goes through after a loss."
