Dana White Fully Expects UFC 148 to be Huge

| by

When it comes to the gold standard in terms of UFC pay-per-view buys, UFC 100 takes the cake. The event, which was held in 2009 in July, drew 1.6 million PPV buys and had a total gate well over $5 million.

UFC president Dana White has been pushing the July 7 UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen 2 as the biggest sporting event of the year, and expects to reach numbers close to that come next month.

"We plan on doing over a million buys," said White, during a conference call earlier in the week. "We expect UFC 100 numbers."

The main event features Anderson Silva defending his UFC middleweight title against Chael Sonnen in a rematch two years in the making. Sonnen has caused so much frustration to Silva that we have seen a new side of "The Spider" recently.
