Dana White on Chael Sonnen Getting a Light Heavyweight Title Shot: "He's a Long Way Away"

| by

UFC president Dana White was a guest on the Dave And Mahoney radio show out of Las Vegas Tuesday morning. When asked about Chael Sonnen's standing in the light heavyweight division, White was very forthcoming.

"He's a long way away," White said (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for transcribing). "He's not coming off the (Anderson) Silva fight and just talking his way into a 205-pound world title shot."

Sonnen has started to make several references to current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Sonnen will face Forrest Griffin at UFC 155 in December at 205 pounds.

Sonnen (28-12-1) is 6-5 in his UFC career, but was able to secure himself a pair of UFC middleweight title fights, thanks in large part to his public feud with Silva. He's done much of the same trash-talking in recent weeks in regards to Jones.
