Christian M'Pumbu Will Defend His Title at Bellator 84

Christian M'Pumbu (18-4-1) will finally make his first light heavyweight defense after becoming Bellator's inaugural champion 18 months ago. The title fight will take place at Bellator 84 against Attila Vegh (25-7-2).

Since winning the title, M'Pumbu only fought once in a losing effort to Travis Wiuff (68-16-1). That loss came in October 2011 in a non-title fight. Vegh defeated Wiuff over the summer to be the No. 1 contender for the title since its inception.

M'Pumbu-Vegh is expected to headline the upcoming card. Also on the show will be the finals of the Season 7 tournaments for the lightweight and heavyweight divisions and a rematch between former training partners Felice Herrig (7-4) vs. Michelle Gutierrez (3-3).

Bellator 84 airs December 14 from The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. It will be the final Bellator show to air on MTV2 before the company switches networks to Spike TV in January. Preliminary fights will stream at
