Cain Velasquez Took Junior dos Santos to School at UFC 155

Cain Velasquez dominated Junior dos Santos for 25 minutes, taking back the UFC heavyweight title with a decision victory Saturday night at UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II.

Velasquez was dealt his first career loss to dos Santos in late 2011. That was a different Velasquez, though, as he suffered a knee injury in training prior to the fight.

Velasquez out-landed dos Santos, 111-57 in significant strikes and had 11 successful takedowns. All total, Velasquez hit on 210 of 339 strikes, while dos Santos connected on 66 of 146.

"The whole year (this fight has been on my mind)," Velasquez said. "This was the hardest fight I have ever been through. I am so tired. Everybody helped me so much. This is for all of them."

Velasquez added to his wife, "Baby, I got your Christmas present right here (pointing to the UFC heavyweight title)."

In the first round alone, Velasquez landed 64 of 115 strikes, including 42 significant ones and took dos Santos down three times.

"I just wanted to keep the pace, a strong pace, and pressure on top," Velasquez said. "I wanted to come in lighter and faster, and I wanted to be in good shape, able to move in any angle."
