Brian Stann Gets Big Win vs. Alessio Sakara

| by

Brian Stann didn't like the taste left in his mouth following a loss to Chael Sonnen. So, "The All-American" went back to work with a fight against Alessio Sakara Saturday at UFC on FUEL TV 2: Gustafsson vs. Silva.

Following an all-out-brawl between the two, it was Stann that got the best of Sakara, taking him to the mat and delivering some short elbows and fists that knocked Sakara out. Stann was awarded the victory at 2:26 of the first round.

"I've been working a lot to shore up holes in my game," Stann said. "I train with six or seven black belts, and those guys really helped me prepare for this fight."

Stann suffered a loss to Sonnen that snapped a three-fight win streak for him. He didn't feel like he had his best plan for Sonnen, but did so against Sakara.

"Whoever's next, I just want to climb back up the ladder," Stann said. "I'm learning my lessons, training every day, and am just honored to be part of (the UFC)."

Stann said his inspiration for this fight was from his brother-in-law, who passed away last year. He also thanked his wife for, "being strong and holding the family together."

Sakara is now 3-2 in his last five fights, including two straight losses to Stann.
