Anthony Johnson Understands Why the UFC Released Him

| by

It took a few years, and even a release from the UFC, but it appears that Anthony Johnson finally gets it. Now, as a member of Titan Fighting Championship, Johnson will officially compete as a light heavyweight.

Johnson, who tried - and failed - several times to make welterweight, will face Esteves Jones next Friday night at Titan FC 24.

"I think I'm where I'm supposed to be at right now," said Johnson, in a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com. "I understand that (the UFC) did (in releasing me). I understand why they did what they had to do."

Johnson (11-4) missed weight three times while fighting for the UFC, including a co-main event battle with Vitor Belfort. After losing to Belfort, "Rumble" was cut from the roster. He earned his first win in Titan FC earlier this year, topping Dave Branch.
