Alistair Overeem: "If They Want Me to Go for the Title, I'm Ready for That"

Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem is currently sitting on the sidelines awaiting his suspension to be over. When Overeem is finally eligible to fight again, he has no preference in who the UFC places in front of him.

"If they want me to go for the title, I'm ready for that," said Overeem, during a recent interview with "I'm gonna lay low and fight whoever they put in front of me."

Overeem defeated Brock Lesnar late in 2011, securing his position as the No. 1 contender to UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos. However, when Overeem took a pre-fight drug test, he had elevated levels of testosterone and was eventually denied his fight license by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

With NAC denied his license, that placed him on a year-long suspension. That will end late in December, and Overeem has said he wants to fight as soon as possible.

As for a potential meeting with dos Santos, Overeem said, "I'm gonna get my hands on (dos Santos) and when I do, he's all mine."
